BORDER RACKETS was formed in 2020 to provide racquet sports players with Badminton and Tennis equipment from a knowledgable source. Our range has since grown to embrace other racquet sports such as Pickleball and Padel.
Located in the beautiful county of Cumbria – home to the world famous Lake District National Park – we are based in Carlisle at Chatsworth Tennis Club.
Our aim is to help racquet sports enthusiasts find the perfect gear for their playing style, either in-store, or online, enabling players to make the most of their ability and enjoy the game to its fullest,
As well as selling products from leading brands like Yonex, Head and Babolat, we also sell more specialist brands in the sports we represent. Our range includes racquets, footwear, accessories, grips, bags, balls and shuttlecocks.
We offer a professional racket restringing service using state of the art electronic machines and are certified racket stringers and part of the Yonex Stringing Team.

Border Rackets is owned and operated by Ken Williams – He has decades of experience playing racket sports and used to joke that he even wanted to win the warm-up (okay, maybe he wasn’t joking).
Originally a tennis player he went over to the dark side in his early-teens (badminton) claiming numerous regional and county titles before discovering he wasn’t as good as he thought he was. Eventually, having worn out several important joints, he swapped smashing for stringing and now enjoys stringing, or talking about stringing (some would say drones on and on and on about it).
“The Devil is in the Detail” is Ken’s mantra – having built several successful businesses from the ground up, he is tuned in to the needs of customers and has the experience to know that great business relies on attention to detail. First-class customer service and personalised help are something of a rare commodity these days, but at Border Rackets we strive to deliver both.
When not harassing customers, polishing his stringing machine or interfering with the website, Ken can be found spending time with his family; mainly providing taxi services to his teenage sons, mending stuff, exploring the mundane, or spoiling ‘Barry’, a lazy, stubborn and portly English Bulldog. Some say owners often come to resemble their dogs….
